Head north from Nashville and you’ll eventually reach Macon County, right along the Kentucky border. Lafayette serves as the county seat and sits near the center of the county, surrounded by rolling countryside.
Outdoor recreation is a big part of the local appeal. Red Boiling Springs was once a popular resort town, known for its hotels and mineral baths. Those days are mostly in the past, but some of the historic buildings still remain. The county also has several caves, making it a fun destination for anyone who enjoys exploring underground.
Agriculture continues to play an important role, with tobacco among the traditional crops. Old barns and working farms dot the landscape, adding to the rural character. Rolling hills, green fields, and quiet country roads give Macon County a peaceful feel—the kind of place where you can slow down, take a deep breath, and enjoy the scenery.
