Moultrie County sits in east-central Illinois, just a stone’s throw from Champaign. Sullivan, the county seat, is a small town with a big heart. Lake Shelbyville, in the southern part of the county, is a major draw.
The land is flat, with little to stop the gusts sweeping across the prairie. The Amish community adds a unique flavor to the area, and you’ll see horse-drawn buggies sharing the road with pickup trucks.
Folks come from all over to fish, boat, and camp. Don’t get me wrong, though—this is farm country through and through. Old barns and farmhouses tell stories of generations past. It’s quiet, rural America at its core.
