Wolfe County, Kentucky
Wolfe County is a small stretch of wilderness in eastern Kentucky. Only about 7,000 people live here. The Red River Gorge cuts through part of the county.
Campton, the county seat, is a classic small town. The Swift Silver Mine is supposedly hidden somewhere in the surrounding hills, sparking treasure hunts for centuries.
Locals joke that some parts of the county have more bears than people. If you’re looking to get off the grid, Wolfe County is the place to be. Just don’t expect cell service everywhere.
