Foard County, Texas
Foard County lies in northwest Texas, tucked into the Rolling Plains region. It’s a small and quiet county, with one of the lowest populations in the state. Crowell serves as the county seat and is the only incorporated city.
This is wide-open Texas, where the horizon seems to stretch forever and you can see for miles. Ranching has been a way of life here since the county was established in 1891. The Wichita River winds through the area, bringing an important source of water to an otherwise dry landscape.
Nearby Copper Breaks State Park is known for its spectacular night skies, making it a great place for stargazing. Foard County was named after Robert L. Foard, an attorney and Confederate major.
