Hot Springs County lies in central Wyoming, just north of Casper. The smell of sulfur is a sure sign you’ve arrived, because this place is famous for its natural hot springs and mineral-rich waters.
Thermopolis, the county seat, is home to the world’s largest mineral hot spring. Visitors travel from near and far to relax in the warm, soothing waters. But the county offers much more than hot springs. Its landscape features rugged canyons, colorful badlands, and wide-open scenery.
The Big Horn River flows through the county, providing excellent opportunities for fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Ranching is also an important part of local life, with cattle grazing across the open range. The population may be small, but that quiet atmosphere is part of what makes Hot Springs County so appealing.
