Hamilton County, Kansas

Hamilton County sits in southwest Kansas, right along the Colorado border. It’s about as remote as you can get in this part of the country.

Syracuse is the county seat, a small town with plenty of grit. You’ll see massive center-pivot irrigation systems spread across the agricultural landscape.

The Arkansas River runs through the county, though it’s often more sand than water. There aren’t many trees, but the southwest Kansas sunsets are something else. The sky feels enormous out here, and people in Hamilton County have learned to adapt to whatever Mother Nature throws their way.
