Osborne County is where the Kansas plains stretch out and life moves at a slower pace. Located in north-central Kansas, the county has Osborne as its main town. The landscape is mostly farmland with some prairie mixed in.
The Solomon River runs through the county, offering good opportunities for fishing. Hunting is also popular, although the area can get pretty windy. U.S. Highway 24 passes through, keeping the county connected to the surrounding area.
If you’re into quirky landmarks, check out the Osborne County Courthouse. Meades Ranch Triangulation Station is another interesting spot, especially if you’re into geodesy. It’s where NAD27 began, and for cartographers, it’s an important place in mapping history.
