Dubois County is located in southwestern Indiana, with the White River forming much of its northern border. While the county may not be the flashiest destination, it offers a strong sense of local character, history, and rural charm.
Patoka Lake, located within the Hoosier National Forest, occupies the county’s northeastern corner and provides excellent opportunities for hunting, fishing, boating, and outdoor recreation. Ferdinand is another notable community, known for its beautiful Benedictine monastery and historic character.
Jasper, the county seat of Dubois County, is well known for its German heritage and long-standing furniture industry. German cultural influences remain part of the community’s identity, while the county continues to be recognized for its hard work, industry, and efficiency.
