Hansford County sits in the northern part of the Texas Panhandle, close to the Oklahoma border. Spearman, the county seat, is located only about 30 miles from the state line. The county has a rich history and was named in honor of John Hansford, a Texas judge and legislator who played a role in the state’s early development.
The landscape is typical of the wide-open Texas Panhandle, with broad, flat plains that are well suited for agriculture. Wheat farming and cattle ranching are important parts of the local economy, while oil and natural gas production also contribute significantly to the region.
Gruver is another important community in Hansford County, with a population of just over 1,000 residents. Like many small Panhandle towns, it is known for its friendly atmosphere and strong sense of community. With its hardworking residents, agricultural traditions, and welcoming spirit, Hansford County reflects the authentic character of the Texas Panhandle.
