Hopkins County is located in northeast Texas, with Sulphur Springs serving as the county seat. Dairy farming plays a major role in the local economy, and the community even hosts an annual stew contest.
The county has a long history dating back to 1846. Cooper Lake State Park draws visitors for its outdoor recreation, while the surrounding landscape is mostly flat and open.
Small towns still have a few old-fashioned general stores that give the area a nostalgic feel. The county fair is a popular fall tradition, and fishing is another favorite pastime. Like much of Texas, the weather here can change quickly.
