Jewell County is located in north-central Kansas, close to the Nebraska border. U.S. Highway 36 passes through the county, connecting it with neighboring Nebraska and other communities across Kansas.
With a population of just over 2,800 residents, Jewell County is the kind of place where people tend to know their neighbors. Mankato serves as the county seat.
Farming is the main way of life here, with wheat, corn, and soybeans among the major crops. Lovewell Reservoir and nearby Lovewell State Park attract visitors during the summer months. Still, Jewell County remains deeply rural, offering the quiet, open feel that comes with life far from the cities.
