La Salle County, Texas

La Salle County is tucked away in South Texas. It may not be a major tourist destination, but it has a rugged charm of its own. Oil and gas play an important role in the local economy, while Cotulla serves as the county seat. The town was named after Joseph Cotulla, a Polish immigrant who helped establish the community.

With a population of only around 7,000 people, the county has a quiet, rural atmosphere. The surrounding Brush Country is rugged and covered with thick scrub, giving the area its classic South Texas character.

The Nueces River winds through the county, bringing patches of greenery to the otherwise dry landscape. Hunting is a favorite activity, particularly for white-tailed deer and wild turkey. Summers are typically hot and dry, but spring brings a colorful change when bluebonnets bloom across the countryside.
