Lincoln County sits along the western edge of Wyoming, where snow-covered mountains in the north transition into high desert farther south. The Wyoming Range runs through the middle of the county, creating a striking mix of landscapes and outdoor adventures.

The Salt River offers excellent fishing, while hiking trails wind through the rugged mountains. When winter arrives, the area becomes a playground for snowmobilers, with plenty of open terrain to explore.

Kemmerer, the county seat, is known for being the birthplace of J.C. Penney, the founder of the famous department store chain. Fossil Butte National Monument is another major attraction, featuring some of the world’s best-preserved fossils. Lincoln County may sit away from the main tourist routes, but its scenery, history, and outdoor activities make it well worth the journey.
