Rains County, Texas
Rains County sits northeast of Dallas and is known as the “Eagle Capital of Texas.” Lake Tawakoni forms much of the county’s western edge and attracts anglers from across the region. Fishing and other outdoor activities are a big part of life here.
Emory serves as the county seat and is the main community in the area. It’s a small, friendly town surrounded by wide-open countryside. Dairy farms and hay fields cover much of the landscape, giving the county a green, rural feel for much of the year.
The Rains County Fair has been a local tradition for more than a century and remains a major community event. Life here moves at a slower pace, and the friendly atmosphere is part of the county’s charm. People still wave when they pass by, even when they’re strangers.
