Real County, Texas
Real County has been keeping things authentic since it was established in 1913. Tucked away in the Texas Hill Country, it’s a rugged, peaceful place known for excellent hunting and fishing. And yes, the county’s name is pronounced “ree-al,” not like the English word “real.”
The Frio and Nueces Rivers wind through the rocky landscape, creating beautiful swimming spots and scenic stretches of water. Leakey serves as the county seat and is a tiny community with plenty of small-town charm.
