Shelby County, Texas
Shelby County is tucked into the Piney Woods of East Texas, right along the Louisiana border. Center serves as the county seat. Despite its name, the town isn’t exactly in the middle of the county. But it’s close enough to make the name work.
The county is named after Isaac Shelby, a hero of the American Revolution. Timber is a major part of the local economy, and logging trucks are a familiar sight on the roads. Nearby Toledo Bend Reservoir is a huge draw for anglers, with plenty of spots for fishing, boating, and enjoying the water.
