Southeast Fairbanks Census Area, Alaska
Southeast Fairbanks Census Area is located in interior Alaska, south and east of Fairbanks. Around 7,000 people live across this large and sparsely populated region, with Delta Junction being the largest town.
The Alaska Highway passes through the area, providing a connection between Alaska and Canada. Agriculture is an important part of the local economy, with barley and hay being the main crops. The landscape includes a combination of forests and mountains, while hunting and fishing are popular for both food and recreation.
Fort Greely Army base is a major employer in the region. The Tanana River valley provides fertile soil that supports farming. Delta Junction is also known for its bison herd. Although the area is largely rural, it has a diverse population that includes Athabascan natives and more recent settlers.
