Vermilion Parish, Louisiana
Vermilion Parish hugs the Gulf Coast in southern Louisiana, just west of Lafayette. Vermilion Bay is a popular spot for shrimpers and recreational fishermen, but there are also plenty of small lakes here, so don’t count them out.
Folks take their food seriously. If you haven’t tried boudin, you’re missing out. Cattle ranching is also big business, with cowboys still roaming the prairies.
If you’re in town for Mardi Gras, prepare for a wild ride. These folks know how to party. Abbeville serves as the parish seat and is a charming spot with a beautiful courthouse square.
