Cheyenne County is located on Colorado’s eastern plains along the Kansas border. Unlike the mountainous landscapes Colorado is often known for, the county is mostly flat farmland, with expansive wheat fields stretching across the horizon.

Cheyenne Wells serves as the county seat and remains a small rural community. Hunting is popular, particularly for pheasants and deer, while cattle ranching also contributes to the local economy. With only about 1,700 residents, the county is sparsely populated and has experienced population decline.
