Lipscomb County sits in the far northern Texas Panhandle, right along the Oklahoma border. It’s one of the more remote corners of Texas, with fewer than 3,000 residents spread across the county.
Ranching is at the heart of local life, and cattle often outnumber people by a wide margin. The county seat, also named Lipscomb, is a tiny community with fewer than 50 residents.
Wolf Creek winds through the county, adding a touch of greenery to the wide-open grasslands. Strong winds are a regular part of life here, creating good potential for wind energy but making for some challenging hair days. Locals are accustomed to the extreme conditions and the rugged lifestyle that comes with them.
