Sumner County is located in south-central Kansas, with Wellington serving as the county seat. It sits directly along the Oklahoma border to the south.
Wheat farming is a major part of life here. They don’t call it the “Wheat Capital of the World” for nothing. U.S. Highway 81 and Interstate 35 both run through the county.
Wellington is home to the Chisholm Trail Museum, a neat spot if you’re interested in cowboy history. The area is pretty rural, but it’s close enough to Wichita when you need a city fix.
