Broomfield County is Colorado’s newest and smallest county, established in 2001. Located between Denver and Boulder, it sits in the heart of the Front Range metropolitan area. The county is unusual because it is essentially a consolidated city and county, with most of its population living in Broomfield itself.
The county has grown quickly, attracting families, young professionals, and technology companies. The Rocky Mountains are visible to the west, while numerous parks, trails, and open spaces provide opportunities for outdoor recreation. Interlocken is a major business district and an important employment center.
Broomfield is known for its relatively affluent communities, strong schools, and suburban amenities. The landscape combines residential neighborhoods, office parks, shopping centers, and remaining open spaces, including a few agricultural areas. With its location between Denver and Boulder, Broomfield has developed a distinct identity that blends suburban convenience with access to both major cities and the mountains.
