Middlesex County, Virginia
Middlesex County is located on Virginia’s Middle Peninsula, nestled between the Rappahannock and Piankatank rivers. The Rappahannock eventually flows into the Chesapeake Bay within the county, making waterways a central part of local life and culture.
Deltaville sits at the eastern end of the county and is a favorite destination for boaters. Often called the “Boating Capital of the Chesapeake Bay,” the community is filled with marinas, waterfront businesses, and boating activity. Urbanna, the county’s only incorporated town, may be small, but it offers plenty of historic charm and character.
Fresh seafood is a major part of the local lifestyle, with crabs, oysters, and other catches often making their way from the water to local tables. Although Middlesex County remains largely rural, it has its share of unique traditions.
