Prairie County, Arkansas
Prairie County stretches across the Grand Prairie region of eastern Arkansas. Des Arc serves as the county seat. The county is well known for rice production and duck hunting.
The Mike Freeze Wattensaw Wildlife Management Area is located entirely within Prairie County and offers opportunities for wildlife viewing and outdoor recreation. The annual Prairie County Fair in Hazen brings the local community together each fall.
Despite its small population, Prairie County has played an important role in Arkansas history. The county courthouse in Des Arc is one of the oldest courthouses in the state that is still in use.
