Brunswick County, Virginia
Brunswick County sits in southern Virginia, right along the North Carolina border. Tobacco was once the big crop around here, but things have changed over the years. These days, soybeans and other crops are much more common.
The county is home to three major lakes: Gaston, Buggs Island, and Meherrin. They’re a big draw for fishermen and anyone who enjoys being out on the water. Small towns are scattered throughout the county, giving the area that classic close-knit feel where neighbors know each other.
Locals are especially proud of Brunswick stew, and they’ll proudly tell you it was created right here. Best not to start an argument about it. The county dates all the way back to 1720, so there’s plenty of history mixed into the laid-back lifestyle. It’s slow-paced living at its best.
