Delta County sits on Colorado’s Western Slope, where the mountains transition into mesas and broad valleys. Delta serves as the county seat, while Cedaredge and Paonia are other notable communities.

The county has a mix of longtime ranching families and newer residents drawn to its rural lifestyle. Agriculture remains important, with orchards, vineyards, and vegetable farms spread across the landscape. The area is especially known for its peaches and locally produced wine.

The Gunnison River flows through the county, providing opportunities for fishing, rafting, and other outdoor activities.
