Plymouth County occupies Iowa’s northwest corner, bordering South Dakota and Nebraska. The county takes its name from Plymouth, Massachusetts, famous for its connection to the Mayflower.
Le Mars, the county seat, proudly calls itself the “Ice Cream Capital of the World” and is home to Blue Bunny ice cream. Visitors can tour the ice cream parlor and museum in downtown Le Mars.
Every fall, Remsen hosts Oktoberfest, celebrating the area’s German heritage with beer, brats, and polka music. The event has been held since 1973 and sounds like a pretty fun time.
