Arkansas County, Arkansas
Arkansas County is one of the oldest counties in Arkansas and has a population of around 17,000 people. Although it is not heavily populated, the county has an important place in the state’s history.
Located in the southeastern part of Arkansas, the county is divided into two districts. Stuttgart is located in the northern part, while DeWitt is in the south.
Duck hunting is especially popular in the Stuttgart area, which is known as the “Rice and Duck Capital of the World.” Rice production is also a major part of the local economy. The Arkansas Post National Memorial preserves the site of the first European settlement in the lower Mississippi Valley.
