Ashley County, Arkansas
Ashley County is located in the southeastern corner of Arkansas and has strong ties to the timber and agricultural industries. Hamburg, the county seat, hosts the annual Armadillo Festival each spring.
Much of the county is covered by pine forests managed for lumber production. Crossett, the largest city, developed around the forestry and paper industries, which continue to play an important role in the local economy.
The Overflow National Wildlife Refuge is a popular destination for birdwatching, especially for those interested in waterfowl. The Saline River and Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge also provide excellent opportunities for fishing and other outdoor activities.
