Racine County, Wisconsin
Racine County borders Lake Michigan in southeast Wisconsin. This county has a bit of everything. The city of Racine is known for its Danish kringle pastries. Seriously, try one.
It’s an area with deep industrial roots, but there’s also a growing focus on new tech jobs. Frank Lloyd Wright left his mark here with several notable buildings, including the SC Johnson headquarters. Racine’s North Beach is a beautiful part of the Great Lakes shoreline.
The county’s western half is more rural, with plenty of farms and orchards. Fishing is popular, whether you’re casting a line in Lake Michigan or one of the inland lakes. The Wind Point Lighthouse is a local icon. There’s a strong sense of community in Racine County, with lots of festivals and events throughout the year.

Racine County gently slopes eastward toward Lake Michigan. The Root River and Pike River both run through the city of Racine, creating a shallow valley along the way. Outside the urban areas, the Racine County landscape becomes flatter, with plenty of farmland, lakes, and open rural spaces.
