Musselshell County is located roughly in the middle of Montana. It gets its name from the Musselshell River that winds through the area. The landscape is a mix of rolling prairies and badlands, with cottonwoods lining the riverbanks.

Roundup is the county seat. Its name pretty much tells you what this place is about. Well, close enough. It’s mostly cattle country here. But it’s not all cows and cowboys. The area also has a rich coal-mining history that helped shape its character.

You won’t find fancy restaurants here, but the local diners serve up comfort food that’ll stick to your ribs. If you’re lucky, you might catch a rodeo. Keep an eye out for pronghorn antelope because they’re faster than you’d believe.
