Powell County, Montana
Powell County is located in west-central Montana, not too far from Missoula. Deer Lodge, the county seat, is home to a cool old prison that’s now a museum.
Winters are no joke, though. Locals bundle up and make the most of the cold with skiing and snowmobiling. There are also plenty of ghost towns scattered around, leftovers from the mining days.
If you’re into history, this place has plenty of stories to tell. You’ll also find plenty of outdoor action here. The Blackfoot River runs through the county, making it perfect for fishing or simply floating on a hot day. And the views? Man, those mountains don’t quit.
